Pondicherry is known as “The French Riviera of the East,” and represents this fact in being a former French colony. It consists of four regions, declaring Pondicherry to be the official name due to it having the largest span. Pondicherry is situated on the Coromendal coast, about 160Kms south of Chennai. It was formerly a French colony. The French ruled this territory for 300 years.
